Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to get started on a project..? or why you just can’t move... you can't get into gear.
You may blame lack of sleep or some other excuse, but it is inertia.
What type of scheduler are you?
I've noticed that there are two types of clients, one who needs to schedule and have deadlines in order to get things done because if they don't they will feel like a failure meaning they bully themselves to complete tasks often at the expense of their health, family life and other commitments!
The other type of client still diaries their schedule but they place greater emphasis on delegation and bring more social and relaxation activities into their day. Their heads do not get cluttered with mindless detail, and have more time to get more things going.
So will just Scheduling get you Success in 2014?
Just because it's scheduled does not mean it will get done! Let's cut to the chase...
- Laziness is the inertia that stops productivity.
- Confusion and scattered minds, create procrastination.
- A defeated mind inhibits the production of new thoughts.
- A Scarcity Attitude inhibits the flow of money and wealth...
- A doctors prognosis may stop you from being healed
These are all examples of Inertia we must learn to overcome.
The Wisdom - Goddess Approach
The wiser approach for most is to break the job into smaller increments, and set smaller goals to get each sub-task done. Interspersing leisure or reward activities in between helps to smooth the flow somewhat. The pace is less intense, and so your time becomes more efficient.
This is more like the second type of scheduler the 'take a break, clear you head' approach works very well...
Take time for a Sauna, a massage, a yoga class, go for a walk. They reduce the inertia; to refocus, clear the mind, and stay fresh. During their breaks they can either take their minds off the task in hand, or set new strategies for moving forward. With your energy intact, you are more able to move effortlessly forward.
Incentive is presumed in both cases, and their passion a driving force, but the difference is in organisation, and sticking to the things you are good at, and freeing time to get the job done.
So rather than focusing on where the inertia is coming from, accept it and move forward with whatever strategy works for you. If you are a sole trader, and can't delegate, then schedule a little less, and increase until you need to hire someone to delegate to.
